Before you buy your Sydney Opera House Light.
Where to start? I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy a wonderful career as an industrial designer and retail marketer.
I finished my Honours degree in Industrial Design way back in 97 achieving Victorian Young Industrial Designer of the year in 1998. I then traveled and worked OS for 2 years.
In 2000 I came back home to Australia and worked in product design and manufacturing where I created some iconic homeware products that are still being sold 20 years after their launch. Never would I have dreamt that a quick trip to Sydney to present my hand-cut concept for a flat packed Sydney Opera House Light would still be sold more than 20 years later!
I was awarded with an Australian Design Mark for my work with the Guggenheim Museum for the New York Guggenheim Museum Lamp.
During my product design years, I become more and more interested in marketing at retail and how design and creative solutions are a critical part of the retail marketing mix.
I pivoted to retail and B2B marketing and since gained much experience working at some of Australia’s most wonderful retail marketing businesses and was a board member and company secretary of Australia and New Zealand’s Retail Marketing association Shop! Australia & New Zealand.
And today with product design and marketing as my foundations, I enjoy being an authentic retail reporter and creative marketer, working with wonderful businesses with the aim of keeping design and marketing alive in physical retail environments.
I’m passionate about minimal and sleek product design using sustainable materials and local manufacturing.
